Liverpool have joined the race for Manchester United and Manchester City target Caglar Soyuncu.
The defender is considered one of the best young players in Turkish football and the same-city rivals both attempted to take him to Manchester in the summer.
However, the 21-year-old stayed put at Freiburg, where he is expected to remain until next summer.
The strong centre-back is a first-team regular in the Bundesliga and has also become a mainstay in the Turkish national team.
And Freiburg, who only signed him from Altinordu last year, are bracing themselves for further interest from England.
According to Turkish-Football.com, Liverpool are the third Premier League club to express an interest in landing Soyuncu.
The Merseyside club have had some problems in defence this season and it has been suggested that the youngster could help steady the ship.
Frieburg do not want to sell him midway through the season but a bid of around £20m may be too difficult to turn down for a player who is still largely unproven.
