Thomas Meunier reveals Aston Villa offered him bigger wages than Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier has revealed he rejected the chance to join Aston Villa after Euro 2016.
The 26-year-old impressed in that particular tournament for Belgium and was earmarked for a big-money move to England.
Meunier instead opted for French champions PSG, despite Villa offering a greater financial package.
The full-back has developed into one of the top defenders in Europe but told Belgium magazine Sport/Foot things could have worked out very differently.
"I received more financially interesting proposals from other clubs, especially from England, but that was not my priority," said Meunier.
"Even Aston Villa, who had gone to the Championship, were more generous than Paris. When my agent told me that the PSG had entered the race, I told him to forget the other offers."
