Revealed: Italian steward has spleen removed after being hit by Inter Milan star’s free-kick
Antonio Candreva's stray free-kick hit a poor steward behind the goal
A poor steward at Italian club Torino had to have his spleen removed after being hit by a free-kick, reports in Italy have claimed.
The 25-year-old male was standing behind Torino’s goal, facing the crowd, when Inter star Antonio Candreva hit a powerful strike over the bar.
It sailed over the goal and struck the steward in the back.
And, according to Sport Mediaset, the impact ruptured his spleen and forced him to have surgery to remove the organ.
The reports in Italy sensationally claim the boy continued to work until the end of the match despite the pain, and only afterwards realised the seriousness of his injury.
