Ranking every Premier League club based on the atmosphere at their home stadium – from worst to best
Arsenal fans have never been renowned for being the most vocal. Before their move to the Emirates in 2006, their former home was known as ‘Highbury the Library’. Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, nothing much has changed since the switch. Former midfielder Andrei Arshavin once said of the atmosphere; “It was like there was no advantage in playing at home. Many of the players – the leaders that were left from the club’s time at Highbury – often complained that the atmosphere in the stands was so bad.”
Jose Mourinho has landed himself in hot water yet again after calling the atmosphere at Old Trafford ‘quiet’.
The Manchester United boss was speaking after the 2-0 win over Huddersfield and even admitted the atmosphere at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park was better.
Mourinho has previously criticised the Stamford Bridge atmosphere while in charge of Chelsea, so perhaps there is a common denominator here?
Regardless, it got us thinking at talkSPORT about which club can lay claim to having the most atmospheric ground in the Premier League.
