Mourinho risks losing millions at Man Utd
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could lose a fortune by the end of this season.
The Sun says United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is planning a move for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino in the summer and is prepared to spend £40m to bring the Argentine to Old Trafford.
Among the stumbling blocks in the deal is the major pay-off United face giving Mourinho if they dismiss him before the end of his contract in 2020.
Should United sack him at the end of the 2018-19 season Mourinho would be entitled to one year's pay – which equates to £12m – due to a clause inserted in the deal.
But that fee will be dramatically reduced if the club are not in the Champions League due to a separate stipulation.
