Manchester United FC transfer report: Toni Kroos linked with sensational move to Old Trafford to replace Michael Carrick
Will Kroos end up at Old Trafford this summer?
Manchester United have reignited their interest in Real Madrid star Toni Kroos following the retirement of Michael Carrick.
The Englishman has drawn a line under 12 years playing for United and now looks set to join the club's coaching staff.
That has left a hole in Jose Mourinho's first-team squad and reports in Spain have suggested that Kroos is the man wanted to fill it.
The 28-year-old has established himself as a vital first-team squad member since his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2014.
And, despite starting only 25 La Liga games this term, Kroos has managed a return of five goals, which is his best in Madrid colours.
But now Spanish outlet Don Balon has reported that United want to prise him away from the Bernabeu having tried and failed to land him before he joined Madrid.
It has even been suggested that the German international would be open to the switch to Old Trafford.
Last month, Kroos and his club teammates Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were linked with moves to Old Trafford which would see Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and David De Gea head the other way.
